SUGAR HIGH! Stopped in on the way to the brewery before a wedding - and we were on the hungry side. Everything looked amazing. They have cream puffs the size of your head! My friend that brought us here picked up a dozen cream pie type things - kinda like little debbie oatmeal ones - but a thousand times better. Her husband met us at the brewery - he had also stopped on his way and picked up a dozen of those little pieces of heaven. We got an eclair type thing that turned out to be a chocolate covered cream puff - I just wanted a bite, but i ate half of it (the other half already eaten by the hubs). We tried a couple of choc cakes with a choc or mint cream on top and then dipped in chocolate - omg - so good. And lastly we cannot forget the chocolate cupcake with salted caramel - amazing. Apparently they have a location in St Cloud - which will be a little more convenient to make a trip on the way up cabin-ing and I hope they have cream puffs the size of my head there too!

I have reviewed here before but I have to knock them down a couple stars after my experience today. I walked in this morning and it was crazy busy as usual on a Saturday morning. I grabbed my number and waited. I ordered up a dozen of our favorites and headed out. We were on our way to St Cloud and all had one for breakfast. We were VERY disappointed to find that all twelve donuts were crunchy on the outside like they were a day or two old. I was number 92 this morning and with the amount of people I saw in the 20 minutes I was there, I am sure the trays of donuts had been filled more than once. I have NEVER had a fresh donut from here before let alone twelve of them! I'm not sure if I will spend my money here again. I may just head over to Maple Lake or better yet Buffalo to moon! Very disappointed! Management did contact me and found that a new employee was on the fryer and the oil temp was not correct when frying. I was assured that the problem was taken care of. Because of the professionalism of management I will definitely go back and gave them their stars back!

Maybe the best bakery in Minnesota -- if you're into traditional favorites like Long Johns, kolache, Danish, and donuts. Love the German chocolate buns. I usually plan trips to western Minnesota so that I can drive through town and stock up. I'll buy more than I planned, but rarely regret it. Not into their bread so much -- my homemade is so much better.

One of the best bakeries in the country. Pre order or call ahead if its for a special occasion. Odd hours so call ahead. Best cookies, donuts, cakes, on the planet. Closed on Sundays.

We took our family to CSB this morning. While observing my wife and children enjoy some fresh-baked goodies, i strongly regretted my decision to go vegan. However, in having enjoyed CSB on numerous occasions, I feel very qualified to insist it is the best bakery in MN. They offer a wide array of fresh-baked items. I am a fan of the glazed donuts, which have a wonderful crisp crust complimented by a deliciously moist dough. Leading up to lent you can score Patschkes, a heavenly pastry best described as a custard filled long john on steroids. They serve Boyd's coffee, and generally have 5-6 selections to choose from. One could easily observe that the coffee is not the premium drink one might grab at A coffee shop, you are not visiting this place for the coffee. Likewise, their Highlinder Grog blend is rather exceptional, if not a tad dilute. There is an excellent selection of flavored creamers available to compensate for those who prefer their coffee strong. Visiting the CSB is a cultural experience. It is one of the most "Minnesotan" experiences I have had. The layout is cozy, even when busy. The service is top notch. One is always greeted by a team with smiling faces with members who are knowledgable and patient. While the service and food are is top notch, do not expect to break the bank while visiting. Your dollar goes a long way at the CSB. The pricing is very fair - almost too fair for the quality one receives. If you live in the area and have never visited, put this on the top of your bucket list. Likewise if you are traveling through, make an effort to stop on... I promise you will not be disappointed.

The best bakery in central Minnesota, hands down. I've literally been a customer for decades. They did my high school graduation cake (1980s), my wedding reception cake (1990s), law school/passed the bar exam cake (2000s), and pretty much every cake for every family function I know of (I have 6 siblings, 30+ nieces and nephews - we all use them). I now live 12 hours away, but every time I go home with my kids, they demand we stop there for breakfast. So, Cold Spring Bakery, we'll see you next week!

I got my wedding cake here. After searching for weeks throughout the Minneapolis and St Paul area I came across this bakery because I was looking through local wedding cake designing contests to see who won and the designers here did very well. Upon sampling the cake it was easily the best cake I'd eaten that didn't cost thousands of dollars. The filling was especially tasty. It was a big hit at the wedding. In fact the DJ came over and asked where the cake was from. He said he'd done thousands of weddings and this was the best cake he'd ever had. My wife also went over there several times before the wedding and brought home goodies each time. They make some really good bakery goods there as well. I guess you can find their stuff at all the grocery stores around St Cloud.

I got my wedding cake at Cold Spring Bakery because I could not afford the crazy prices here in the cities. Drove an hour and a half to a pre-scheduled tasting appointment only to find that they didn't even have the cake I requested in stock and the cake decorator person was not even there. Had to come up a second time and buy a sheet cake that was already made just to be able to taste the spice cake that we wanted for the wedding cake. The display cakes were pretty and we were assured by the staff that they could accomplish the design that we asked for. Our wedding was Halloween themed so the cake had ghosts all over it, I printed out specifically the ghosts that I wanted on the cake, they were done by a certain artist and had a very distinct look. The ghosts that were actually on my cake looked like a 5 years old's drawing. I even had guests comment that they looked like sperms swimming all over my cake. REALLY, that happened. That is how horrible this thing was. My husband picked up the cake the night before the wedding and I had asked him to text me a picture of it before he left the bakery, he didn't because he knew that if I saw it, I would ask him to just leave it there and demand a refund, but by the time it was already in St.Paul and sitting at the reception hall, what was I supposed to do? I was a very laid back bride and didn't let this ruin my day, I never even called the bakery to yell at them or anything. But I am just warning others that if they have anything other than a traditional design planned for their wedding cake and expect a decent amount of customer service, that they better look elsewhere. I was very hopeful about this place and ended up very disappointed. I wish I would have just got a cake from Byerly's or something. Oh yeah, the taste didn't even make up for the uglyness.Very bland.

Used them for my daughter's wedding. The cakes were fantastic. They had three different cakes because there were too many great flavors to choose from. We had many compliments. The service was always prompt and efficient from tasting to delivery. They charge a little more for delivery if you're not in the area, but it's well worth it!

They have been making great bakery items for many years, I've never had a bad donut.

Cold Spring Bakery was stop #5 on the great cake tasting for my sister's wedding 2012. Definitely the most informal of all the tastings, but we're in cold spring people, not MSP, ammirigghtt?? Anyway. Cake was boring. Not like, bad, but again just tasted like I could have made it. No, I'm a darn good baker... tastes like my sister could have made it. Lolz. Nada especial. Anyways, we were ready to pack it in when we discovered the petis fours which they did let us try. The chocolate was whatevs but the vanilla was SKYROCKETS IN FLIGHT - yum!!! Afternoon delight, indeed. I loved it. My sister liked it. My mom hated it. We all loved the price (by far the cheapest option) but it was axed on account of already having tasted Sweet Retreat & Cocoa & Fig. Sorry CSB... I'm quite sure we didn't try enough to give you a truly fair rating. I do apologize.

Love this place! We've been coming here when we're out at the cabin ever since I was a kid and it's still fabulous. The cookies, bread, doughnuts and cakes are all great. One thing that never ceases top amaze me is the price for all these goodies... we'll stock up and expect it to cost 60-70 bucks like it would at home and every time it costs around $25. Love it! Grab yourself a dozen Swedish Dreams, you won't regret it.
